"The Homecoming" - a Harold Pinter play made into a film in 1973. It starred Ian Holm, Cyril Cusack, Paul Rogers, Vivian Merchant, Terrance Rigby and Michael Jayston. No special effects. No car chases. No fucking posing actors with perfect hair and teeth. In fact, hardly anything outside of a single room as the set, yet the most intensely unnerving acting I've ever seen.

House Of Games.

I liked House of Games, too. But really odd was a french-Canadian film called Leolo. I was working as a projectionist in an arthouse cinema, so I got to see it several times during its run. Bizarre, surreal, and strange.

Atom Egoyan's film Exotica was pretty good, too.

A Clockwork Orange. I loved the music as well.

Does anyone remember a film called "Wild In The Streets" from the late seventies? It was about a rock star (Christopher Jones) who gets elected president, and plans to put acid in the water supply and old people into concentration camps. Shelley Winters played his mum.

Another odd film that just came to mind starred Roy Scheider. In it, his girlfriend gets taken over by the ghost of a former white slave prostitute and he discovers that his forebears were Jewish pimps in the 1930s. Can't remember the name of it.

Thank you. Straight-to-video films aren't all rubbish.

If you know Hitchcock well, have you seen Foreign Correspondent? Now, that's an odd film.
