I understand what you are getting at, but stressing the w seems like someone who has been pushed off a cliff and shouts out to the one who pushed him, "You twaaaaaaaaaaaat." Stressing the a would be better methinks.

The diver in the Cent was a Tanky, not a spanner. Though as you well know REME can hold their own in the cursing stakes.
I did wonder about Storm.
As for 430 track links I always got the grunts to move em for me.
But, what was a bloke doing with 430 track links on the back of a Beddie 4t?
We all had 434's and 432's to support 430's

sssshhhh!!! it was a long time ago and the bloke in question had at the time, the only vechile able to get out of the lane where they were all cammed up and get back to the stores and get the link - yes it was the usual 'Clusterfuck' of a major exercise.

It wasn't the link being on a B4T that was the prob though, it was forgetting to let go as it was tipped.lol .................and the reason I remember it so well is because the stupid idjit was me (but i reckon you guessed that already) something along the lines of 'stand back guys, let the ever so clever corporal show you how its done'. !grin!

Yes, stressing the 'a' does sound better, but you don't want to sound like you've just been pushed off a cliff every time you say it, so, I think stressing the 'w' is a good compromise.

Another plus is that typing 'you twwwat!' on a forum has the affect you're looking for without it looking like you can't actually spell the word. Another plus!

I did wonder spanner. But I never had blanket stackers when I was with the grunts (1SG) only when I was with a gunner Regt or a Wksp.
But I can imagine you hoiking a link off the back of your truck and forgetting to let go. I bet your mates had a larf though.
