Couple of points:
I happen to live in Barking & Dagenham. The BNP never had enough councillors to make any difference to the area let alone create a "wonderland". Yes the BNP were the official opposition but even if half the Labour group on the council had stayed home the rest would still easily have outvoted the BNP. On one occasion the BNP councillors put forward a motion but then 11 of the 12 forgot to turn up to vote. If brains were dynamite, the BNP wouldn't have enough to blow their hats off.
And to Terry:
"Even if they never let another person of colour into this country"
Funnily enough the locals were not objecting to coloured people living here (despite the BNP's view) - Indians, Pakistanis, West Indians et al are long established, it was the influx of eastern European immigrants that got most people's goat. Trouble is most people in this area are/were too stupid to realise that whoever got into power would not be able to do a thing about it while we remain members of the EU.
