I remember seeing a programme about Benny Hill and what happened to all his money. It was said that when he died he lived in a rented flat in Teddington in south-west London, within walking distance of the studio he filmed at. He had ?10m in the bank which was easily accessible, yet chose to rent a small place. When he died he had no wife or kids so the ?10m, according to this programme, was distributed amongst distant relatives - many of whom lived in Australia. Imagine that, an Aussie couple who had heard they were related to Benny, yet never met him, and all of a sudden a cheque for several million arrives in the mail!
