OK.

I work with a Scotsman and we spend a lot of time have anti-English, anti-Scots banter between us, lots of it by email.

No malice at the end of the day though.

It's easy to forget that on this forum I'm not communicating with people who don't know me and don't get my sense of humour.

Sorry, re-read my posting and have corrected my English in this version !

"A bitter fucker with no sense of humour".

This is like being back at work answering emails from my colleague from over the boarder.

No wonder I'm confused.

No we work for the Equality and Human Rights Commision.

"Our job is to promote equality and human rights, and to create a fairer Britain. We do this by providing advice and guidance, working to implement an effective legislative framework and raising awareness of your rights"

I dont mind getting Scottish notes, as I find the variety quite interesting. I have never had a Northern Ireland note, but again I wouldn't refuse one. You can always change them at the bank if needs be.

However, I don't think notes from the Isle of Man or Channel Islands can be spent in the UK. Am I right on this?

I had a similar experience in a McDonald's in Aberdeen recently. The manager was called over and presented with the offending ?20 note and declared it OK. I think in the old days a "boot up the arse" would have been called for but I suppose nowadays it would call for retraining.
I don't know how long the person had been in the country but surely there must be some sort of interview to suss out candidates, even at McDonald's.
