Die Hard is a brilliant film. Some quotes:
MCCLANE: "so why blow the roof Hanz, why try and kill everybody?"
GRUBER: "if you steal six hundred dollars you can just disappear, when you steal six hundred million they WILL find you - unless they think you are already dead".
HOLLY: "my god, after all your posturing, all your speeches, you are nothing but a common thief."
GRUBER: "I am an exceptional thief Mrs McClane and since I'm moving up to kidnapping you should learn to be more polite!"
Great film.

Zulu beats the lot into a cocked hat. At least Zulu was based on a true event. One of the British Army's most outstanding actions.

Rodders, the Zula thing needs to be seen as a whole. Namely the earlier fiasco, as covered in the movie 'Zulu Dawn', and the later more heroic things as shown in the film 'Zulu' itself. The massacre of British soliders earlier that day was huge, that was played-down and the later events at Rorkes Drift was played up, for political reasons back home. The 'heroes' involved in the latter were later knighted back home in order to take attention away from the disaster than had occured earlier in the day. It was also said that the two lead characters in the Zulu film, the one played by Michael Caine and the other lead (I forget which actor played him) both ran away in terror as the Zulu's approached. This is not shown in the movie. I also remember reading that many of the 'heroes' of Rorkes Drift suffered mental problems for years afterwards as they were so traumatised by what had happened.

The Bourne movies owes as much to Die Hard as it does to other action movies but good choice all the same
Predator was directed by John McTiernan who directed Die Hard afterwards. Shame Sean Connery busted McTiernans balls constnatly on Medicine Man but given that Connery punched a notorious gangster (Johnny Stomponato) in the face nearly breaking his jaw, would you argue with him?
