Ideally, it means Time-for-prints, whereby a photographer and model get together, and practice their arts, both gaining experience and some photographs for their respective portfolios and/or use.

Realistically, it means some bloke with a camera takes some snaps of a bird with her tits out for free, and gives her a CD of blurred snaps 3 months later (if ever)

So with a few exeptions (and Denise is one of them), yes, its a rip-off

TFP - Time for prints - Where a model works for copies of the photo's taken instead of money....

...In the 'olden days'....when it used to cost money to produce a print suitable for the model to display in her portfolio this was quite common. Up and comming models would work with photographers on a TFP basis, new models need photos to get work.......there were always photographers willing to take the photographs........

Personally I would advise models to avoid 'TFP' as much as possible, it's something (with over 20 years experience) I have never done.

However recent posts seem to be unable to distinguish requests for 'TFP' from photographers and requests for 'TFP' from models.

Maybe we need a new description..... when it is a model asking for 'TFP'....how about using the term 'print share' ( both models getting equal pictures from the shoot) this would maybe avoid some of confussion we are getting at the monment.

Photographers have always done tests of models. It's a way of trying out ideas and it's a way of working with inexperienced or unfamiliar models who one might not want to risk using on a job until you have got to know her, found out whether you can work together. It is a long established way of working for professional photographers. The important thing about a test though is that that is what it is. It isn't shot to fill a brief without paying the model. There is no client and the pictures can not be sold or published. There is no release on them. The usual form is that they go to the models agency and if they think there is something that would be good for the models book then they ask for a print.

Somewhere along the line hobbyist photographers and amateur models have latched on to this and termed it "time for prints". So that's fine as mutual back scratching just as long as everyone understands what they're doing and no one is trying to rip off someone else.

The problem seems to be that there isn't any point in doing tests when the photography isn't about ideas or visuals but about the novelty of seeing a new woman's cunt. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking it: just being honest. The only novelty in porn is the new model. Inexperience is the talent. And somehow the snappers never quite understood that a test was about developing your style, exploring your talent, which hardly has relevance when they think photography is about what you show rather than how you show it. Anyway in porn that's the way it is. You can't take a bad porn picture for want of talent.We don't want to see the photographers talent, we just want to see the talent. Right, guys ?

Of course the real problem is that the internet means we can all be Larry Flint now. And since we all can, and we all have genitals to exhibit, porn is getting rapidly devalued. it's always been pretty low rent in the UK anyway. I mean Paul Raymond and a few others made serious dosh but certainly not the models or the smudgers.

So there you are. Models who do tests ( time for prints ) should not sign model releases. You cannot give away your virginity too often.

OK to cut the arguements short....I'm not trying to rip ANYONE off...its not taking pics for general release, only for my web site and presumably the only girls that would reply are ones that want the same thing for their own website as Mr Wessex TV very rightly points out. And in fact in this case there arent actually any prints as its all digital photography. I'm not practicing having modelled for over 2 years professionally I dont need to, just trying to get a site up and running. No model releases, just fun and shared site content for all concerned. Most girls that would reply to this would probably be happy to have a pro published model on their site so I doubt any of them would feel ripped off by it!

Cathy as its pointed out I'm not a photographer and I'm not asking girls to work for nothing. Just any girls wanting to work with me for site content (presumably only girls with sites of their own would reply). I would have thought that you of all people would understand that being a model yourself?

P.S. I dont think your tits are the biggest in the UK.

Content swap is fine
if 2 models do a upaid shoot and the pics are used on each site then great also the photographer could sell the pics and pay the model a royalty on every set sold .
in my mind time for prints means a day at a photo studio unpaid and you get a set of pictures for your portfolio
