I talked about the excessive coverage given to Angelina Jolie by media outlets in another post and how their PR people, presumably very expensive PR people, have lobbied the BBC and everyone else to talk about her in amongst their stories on Syria, Woolwich, Turkey and everything else. Having your breasts removed is now in the same category as celebrity weddings as far as Hello magazine is concerned. I noticed on a newstand this morning that there are even follow-on stories as a result of this, Kimberley Walsh from Girls Aloud is on the cover of Hello this week and rather than 'my new album', 'my new relationship' or 'my new house' as the headline, it is 'I'll do what Angelina did if I was in her situation'. That's the headline. This isn't presented as a matter-of-fact story, it's very much in the context of a celebrity tale.
Angelina Jolie's PR machine have got the BBC still talking about it today: "Angelina Jolie attended a premiere last night with her partner Brad Pitt, very soon after her mysectomy." Brad Pitt is standing there outside the cinema in his silver shades, with camera flashes going off, talking about it too. I didn't hear what he said though as I hit the mute button. I find all this very odd, the two of them have said before that they were considering moving to France at one point because there are stronger paparazzi rules there and they wouldn't get hassled and spyed-on by the paps as much if they lived there compared to what they get in the USA. Yet they court celebrity publicity, and as much as they can get, with this.

Sky is Murdoch owned so if he owns the company then to some degree you'd think he would indirectly manipulate the news ie get the heads of department under his influence to make it look like he isnt
Max, I dont think Angelina Jolies tits have got that much exposure (huh???) Shes a celeb who does work for the UN and not just a mere celebrity and if she is promoting health awareness for the ladies then so be it.
Shes a kind hearted woman and I've got a lot of respect for her and her work and some of her movies are pretty good too.

Sky`s not wholly owned by Murdoch. If it was their news channel would resemble Fox News at lot more. You know with the right extemist nutters who blame Obama for ruining the economy two minutes after he got into office.
Personally I think the BBC waste far too much of our money on shite. Do we really need BBC 3 and 4 if they both only broadcast programming for 12 hours? And do we also need two fucking kids channels. They want to get better writers on Doctor Who too, I could eat alphabet spaghetti and shit better scripts.
