Think I've found her with the aid of a Dutch friend over at VEF. !thumbsup!

Is it likely to get the family loop in it's original form (is that 8mm?) via some auction at
http://filmundo.de/ or something?

Well, there's a better chance than you might think... people do sell old super8 films on filmundo.
Another place to look for that is - they have currently about 60 German Super8 movies for auction, though this one is not amongst the lots.
