I don't pretend to understand the sexual psychology but wouldn't dare to

I of course dislike the general pixelation [which however- as you said- is nowadays
about the 'seventh veil' level], but you can easily enough find 'uncensored' stuff.
The girls are often stunning enough that you can ignore [more or less] some of
the weird background goings-on; well worth a bit of effort. Oh, and I quite like
the intros- as long as they're not TOO long- I understand about two words of

Even Japanese viewers are not happy with the mosaic, given the popularity of websites featuring AV idols in uncensored scenes. However, we can never deny the fact that it's basically censorship that pushed JAV to its unique course.

I was not JAV bashing, but basically outlining as others have done in this topic the marked differences between Oriental porn and Western porn.
Even without the pixelation, the scenes in the JAV movies are pretty dreadful stuff. What I have found strange though is that hardly few if any western porn producers/directors have ventured off to Japan to have those lovely Japanase girls being bonked by studly western porn actors.

What they can't even show or portray or imagine with live performers, they do with animation. I find none or it even remotely erotic, and I was trying to restrict my thoughts to more mainstream porn, which in itself I find pretty dreadful. The endless fondling (I have seen 20-25 minutes of the male actor just kneading the girl's bosom), the silly sex toys, the girl's moans, the sex positions, it's like witnessing martians breeding.
My other point is why is there are hardly any westerners who shoot porn there (not for JAV market) but for the western market? Does anyone have expertise or actual knowledge of this strange situation, and why westerners have not been able to break through the Japanse porn market?

I guess you are underestimating domestic factors of Japan.

1. Japanese porn is highly monopolised, controlled in fields of production, distribution, supervision, sanctioning, 'talent scouting', marketing by a small number of corporations that also maintain links with sex toy industry, softcore erotic products, and rather shady segments of the "water trade". Some of those corporations, like Hokuto, are major stock companies.

2. Japan is arguably the most prolific producer of pornography in its various forms and it's too much self-sufficient. AV idols are more or less mainstream figures (compared to often obscure and marginalised "porn stars" in the West) that keep stable fan bases by their highly publicised and diverse activities. This further ensures sustainability and autarky of Japanese porn corporations in terms of human resources and consumer attraction.
