I don't think we generally appreciate what a good job the mods here do in
maintaining a large latitude for posters while keeping it almost entirely crap-free
[apart from the endless crap that I post- which they seem to tolerate, in much
the same way as you woud indulge a mad old uncle].
I can't comment on RAME because it was pretty much before my time but I agree
that the ADT/iafd hook-up has not worked out that well.

It might be that there are too few mods even to cope comfortably with adding
new films- in which case they would be justified [although somwehat short-
termist] in regarding discussion as a waste of precious time. Of course, we know
less about the iafd mods than we do about the Masons.....
With older titles it may well be that there are relatively few mods qualified to
deal with such material- hence, a queue.

We don't really know who the "willing" group of volunteers at IAFD are. Some appear to act/behave somewhat indipendent of others.
I learned a lot about movies and scenes at the RAME newsgroup in its time. It was moderated in the sense they would delete posts that they did not think were relevant (or that were inflamatory) and removed the spam.
The ADT hookup was pure nonsense and their heart does not seem to be there. I submitted early on information on an older so-called US fisting movie, featuring Don Fernando. IAFD refused to accept my assertion that it did not feature any fisting scene (3-4 fingers does not a fisting make) and even after Don Fernando joined the discussion and confirmed my assertion IAFD still did not make the change, until I insisted on it. It is that kind of attitude that makes the desire to want to make submissions rather difficult.
It would strongly appear that a discussion group (seeing what they have at ADT) is not something IAFD is enthusiastic about. Perhaps they don't have the manpower to run it it efficiently. The other problem, is that IAFD is skittish about posting explicit nude/hc pics, so how would you go about describing a performer's look/tattos, sex scenes without pics/caps?

Dear jj, dear Len,

thanks for your answers - but also for your discussion! I had some difficulty to translate, i.e. to make the meaning clear to my husband, but it was worth while.
I think he no longer wants to ask questions in iafd. This makes me sigh with relief!
!surrender!

As mentioned in your discussion, it would be a great thing if we could communicate with producers and performers, (at least I understood so); it would make most of those ID-questions superfluous.

Thanks again!
Zebrafink

Zebrafinch, male, lies in bed
thinking of another thread
which his mate
must translate
and which drives most people mad

female finch with aching head
builds the questions for the thread
waits for nice
kind replies
of a couple of wise guys

Even if jj and len
tend to hijack now and then
such a thread
I?m not sad
For it?s worth while being read

We were discussing IAFD in the thread and the process for raising questions and submitt corrections, etc.
In light of the fact Alec is behind around 1.5 years in making changes to the database (and it may get worse as time wears on), I would like to raise the question, if it has not been done before, of allowing experiened and trustworthy persons like JJ to make changes to the EGAFD database (at least for movies he has has viewed and which he has already dealt with in many of his own posts).
Any thoughts on this?
