I ordered a dvd from them and almost a month later still hadn't received it. They claimed they had a batch lost in the post.
They did ship me a replacement from Spain within a few days though. They do tend to reply quickly to emails, but their delivery service is nowhere near as good as Your Choice.

The obvious lesson for companies and anybody in business is don't make promises that you can't keep

If some of the dvds aren't going to be available for 3 months
Tell the customer...don't try to baffle them with bullshit
A sure fire way of not getting repeat business

The problem with that is that if you told 'em it may not be available for 3 months, they might decide not to send any dosh and hey, even porn Baron's have mortgages to pay.

Judging by all the good comments about STB I can't see the necessity for deceiving a customer

Maybe a simple solution of offering an incentive to the customer to place the order when told of the wait would be in order
Buy 4 dvds...wait 3 months...get 1 free
You might lose money doing this in the short term
but if it leads repeat business and good word of mouth
surely its worth a shot

A lot of people (myself included) prefer to have tapes posted from within the UK (I have my reasons). If that wasn't the case why would companies make an issue out of it.
I don't understand why a company would say they always deliver from within the UK when they don't. It appears from above posts that they do sometimes deliver from the UK but that wasn't my experience.

Ha, ha! "I have my reasons" This is precisely what has me ripping my hair out. Why can't you tell us what these "reasons" are? If they are relational and reasonable no one will laugh or cast aspersions. However, it is my belief (arrived at after many years of people watching) that these reasons will probably not be rational or valid. Otherwise, why can you not share them with us? Folks like you won't say what their "reasons" are because they either don't know themselves what their reasons are (divis) or they know deep down that their reasons are either irrational, pervy or stupid, but they just can't face up to that. They?re in denial and need a slap round the chops to make them get a grip on the real world and deal with it.

So what's your problem? - You think that 'Big Brother' will clock your package of shagging as it come through customs and dire consequences will follow? Hey, chill out man that was many moons ago, it's all changed now. Loads of people order erotic movies from all over the world everyday without any problems at all.

But maybe you're someone famous, a poncy public figure or politician or maybe you have a poncy job high up in the public sector. In this instance Even ordering a normal shagging video would be a capital offence as far as scummy tabloid newspapers are concerned, not to mention various conservative associations, labour groups and 'wimmins' groups.' Maybe in this instance you wouldn't have the backbone to stand to 'em and say "Fuck you yer pretentious wankers! I like shagging, I like watching shagging, there ain't nothing wrong with it and I'll indulge myself until I'm sated thank you very much!"

But wait; maybe you don't want the customs guys to see your order because it's something really pervy? I recall that STB used to offer some really sleazy stuff featuring 'farmyard' ?toilet? and extremely coercive action. Hmm, I can see why you would want the customs guys to see that - they may think a raid might be justified. Never mind what the Chairman of the golf club would think or indeed other forumites...

Thanks to everyone that responded, still nothing has arrived but
lets just hope. At best, should i eventually receive the discs
the service has been chronic. I have purchased many times from companies in the US and delivery times are 10 days max and never once have i needed to chase them. Maybe the Americans have a different mentality.

I agree with most who posted and agree. Should STB Website state
"UK despatch" (or Spain or Italy) and if it read that delivery time could be up to 2 months, at least we would have the choice. Dont think they would remain very busy would they ? ? ?

It IS possible that my order will arrive sometime in 2003, but you learn from experience and i will definately stick with reliable outfits such as 5 Star, DVD advantage and Erodvd in future.

As for PR Mann, what a knob ! Firstly, learn to read the post thoroughly before you respond and as for your involvement in
the 'Adult Retail Business' Yeah, I CAN imagine. Loser.

Thanks everyone else.
