Pirating porn really isn't like pirating games, movies or program.
If you want to release a game or program, you need to have skills to remove the protections added to the software.
If you want to release a dvdr or a xvid of a movie, you need to be good at ripping it and converting it. Obviously not as hard as a cracking a game and most people can do it, but it does take a bit or work. Obviously you can add ripping a porn movie to this category.
but...
if you want to release a porn site rip, you need no skills what so ever. You need a credit card and be able to run a program that downloads everything of the site (you could argue that sometimes you would need to program it yourself, and that might a bit of skills).
So torrents are the real threat since they give anyone the possibilty to share with a load of people what they themselves have downloaded easily.
And no politican or any of the big groups fighting against copyright infringements will ever be interested in helping porn producers with people copying what they have produced...
In the end producers of porn might look at a bleak future, just like producers of music.
The musicians on the other hand might start to sell their music to their fans, emlimnating any middle men and they can also make money by touring.
Obviously, women in porn could still make money, by interacting with their customers directly, either by 1-2-1 web cam chats, photo sessions or other work I'm not going to mention here.
But then this is my rant. What the f*ck do I know....
Bit Torrent - notes for producers
Re: Bit Torrent - notes for producers
********* and PureTNA are owned and operated by Israeli venture capitalists TargetPoint. They are not interested in what people are sharing but on people clicking thier ads for Adultfriendfinder and ImageFap and suchlike (they own Imagefap too). Cheggit is run by saz and the othermods from ********* who left/were fired when TargetPoint aquired *********.

Re: Bit Torrent - notes for producers
My view is, people who use torrent sites probably wouldnt be customers of www.insertsitehere.com in the first place, thats why they use torrents.
I think people should stop worrying so much about piracy, its always going to be around, it just gets more hi-tech, the majority of people who want to pay will pay if they are looking for regular quality.
Incentives does seem to be the way to go, more interactive websites for example. There is ways to get around it and make it harder for the rippers/more attractive for peeps who would consider paying.
Probably shouldnt have got into this, watch my site get ripped onto tna the week of launch.....

Re: Bit Torrent - notes for producers
I agree n. People who download torrents are not going to be subscribers to a site. These guys are the ones who used to buy porn vhs' at car boot sales. Piracy had always and will always be around. At least people aren't making money from reselling like the old days.
I only use P2P to sample some tracks off an album to see if it's worth buying. I don't have copied cds and dvds around. I'm against piracy, and am proud of my legimitate DVD collection. (which is alphabetized, by the way)
However, I feel it's a hopelless battle, you close one site, another springs up. You close one method of piracy, another will emerge.

Re: Bit Torrent - notes for producers
I think there's a definite ring of truth to your argument that people who use P2P or Torrents aren't ever going to be paying customers.
However, I dare say some of them might be if they had no other choice. Consider if you will a customer who may only be interested in 1-3 scenes off a 6 scene DVD (for whatever reason, the talent involved or the particular acts/fetishes contained therein). Rather than buy the DVD, they'll just go and get said scenes for free, meaning the producer gets no money whatsoever.
As it stands, it's almost in the producer's interest to make quasi-unpopular porn with performers nobody is interested in, lest they become a target for the pirates/rippers. It's only fair they should get a commensurate financial reward for their production outlay, so the moral of the story is if you want to see it, you should be prepared to pay for it. It's that simple.
Personally, I must admit to feeling a twinge of pity for the rippers/uploaders when I think about what motivates them to do it. There's no financial gain, instead just a chorus of 'You the man!' when they upload something. It's very sad to think that the only thing they have to offer that gets them noticed and makes them feel important or appreciated somehow is something that isn't theirs in the first place, but instead the work of others. A pretty pathetic admission to make really, but there's obviously plenty of sad sorts out there who answer to that description.

Re: Bit Torrent - notes for producers
I dunno, I`ve found myself subscribing to a few sites I`ve seen on torrents that I wouldn`t have found otherwise. I`d rather sign up than spend forever downloading a 14Gb site rip that would clog up my hard drive. I`d rather sign up and see what I like and download what I like from the site.
Mind you there`s two sites I`d download a site rip of on general principle that I signed up and downloading of pics and movies was disabled.

Re: Bit Torrent - notes for producers
So the only reason for you to do something for someone else is financial gain? And everyone who does something without getting paid are stupid?
Just wondering.
