I agree SpunkySam, what you've proposed is pretty much what we've been furtively getting up to over in Potters Bar (a stone's throw from South Mimms on the M25). We run a commercial photography practice and supplement our income by renting the studio out for stills and video work. We're constantly building sets and coming up with new ways to optimise the the 1000+ sq ft of studio floor at our disposal. We've built bedrooms, living rooms, Victorian drawing rooms, school rooms, psychedelic 60's sets, graveyards, 1930's cruise ships, Santa's grotto, Frankenstein's castle and we have one of the best medieval dungeons going (incl furniture: St Andrews Cross, Stocks, whipping bench, chain winch, really worrying looking Gynaecological chair etc)... and they're always available for all manner of nefarious filth, no questions asked (excluding obviously illegal shit) for ?170 a day (?90 for the half day) including plenty of constant and strobe lighting, props, advice, tea/coffeee, shower facilities etc, etc... I've been harping on about something like this for over 10 years and nothing ever happens. It is pathetically awful trying to get locations in this country. In the States, Czech Rep or Budapest it's easy.
