You are not being Dim at all, i had the same problem when i first wanted to post a picture.
If you go into F.A.Q and scale down to Section 3 . 10 go into Image Shack and follow the instructions and after a couple of attempts you should be ok.
I find Image Shack only seem to like photos upto topless, i don't know how to send any stronger stuff.
I am sure some of the more kindly readers of this forum will be able to help you out and explain better than me.
