Certain production companies give the media a bad name but they aren't all bad....

I've been involved in a few media productions and have mixed reports. We we worked with Channel 4 for a sex education programme last year and the production team were professional and very easy to work with. I recently worked with Tim Shaw and his new production company and was extremely impressed with their professionality, organisiation and interpersonal skills.

On the flipside we recently had to tell a certain production company where to go....!

They contacted us via Stormchild (who is a great guy to work with - this isn't directed at him!) and at first we were told they wanted to film a 2 hour sceen for which they would pay us a fee. Then they wanted - a scene plus they wanted to follow a shoot and do interviews....suddenly they started trying to lay down the law and wanted to come and pretty much spend two full days at our house despite the fact I had other shoots booked in! They wanted access to every room and expected me to drop all my plans for them. When I explained we had other committments and couldn't just drop everything and let people down to do their bidding, they suggested they "throw some money at the problem" and offered us 250 on top of what they'd already suggestedl We had to decline their offer and laughably when they couldn't get their own way they hung up on JJ! !grin!

They'd also tried to get me to sign a release form which I'd thrown into my bag to 'read through at home' The release asked victims...I mean contributors to sign to contest that they'd had a pychological assessment to deem them fit to take part ....as well as a load of other bullshit including a section to agree to the contributor fee of....wait for it.... 1 pound!!!!
When I pointed out in the nicest possible way that the release appeared to be abject bollocks, the producer claimed he's been faxed the wrong form!

A bit long winded but my point is, like in any business there are a lot of good guys in the media that will listen and be prepared to put your view across. They are also a lot of twunts that deserve the abuse they get!
