Sure - the domain
www.newsgroup-independent.com is available for sale through oneandone.
Ok it's obvious it's fake in context but there would be a fair number of people who didn't think to check it out. My point was that even a real looking address can sometimes be fraudelent.
I agree though it's cool that the guys are looking out for us chicks.

I agree with you Tim. The undertones are rather worrying.

"This article would be a completely open-minded and sympathetic look at the people who work in the industry".
God, how many times have I heard this phrase from someone in the media.........before their victim is roasted alive!

Well done to Daisy Rock for telling it as it is, as for the rest most of which was about gay porn it was just the normal write up to sell a few extra copies, nothing new just people who claim they were abused as a child so lets blame the porn industry for that. !sad!

I read Hari irregularly and if anyone was to do an interview or documentary about porn, you could do a lot lot worse than get him to do it.
He is a gay man and committed to sexual freedom, so the agenda might not be pro-porn; but it is pro-porn performer. The interviews with Daisy and 'Hannah' displayed that: very readable. Daisy said some home truths that needed airing- not from you or I but from a performer of form and credibility.
I wish more 'names' had spoken to him to get a wider perspective- but after that crap from Kyle this week, I am not surprised that they didn't.

I thought it wasn't all that bad for a national's take on the biz. However as always it seemed to be coming from the perspective of total ignorance on the part of the reader. On the one hand they tell us that porn in this country, has never been as widespread, available or acceptable and then on the other presume that their readers never buy any and know nothing about porn. I read both the Indie and the Guardian and think that apart from a couple of writers on their books, generally the industry gets fairer treatment than from the shock / horror tabloids. Like Hari, I'm a liberal who admits to liking porn, and like him I do sometimes feel just a little twinge of guilt or whatever about some of the underlying issues.
I cant believe that this would be an issue in virtually any other country in Europe. If you consider that porn has been legal there for anything up to 40 years or so, thats a lot of participants who have consensually done it and moved on without too much hand-wringing from the sexual-morality brigade about motives and presumed abuse.
