To survive in a recession is all about how a company adapts to the situation.
In the last one of the early 90's a friend of mine was a mortgage broker, when the recession kicked in, he stopped doing mortgages and went into security. He employed guys to go round boarding up houses that banks had repossessed and was then paid by said banks to stop squatters moving in.

The point I'm making is to take a positive stance about this recession, don't bury your head in the sand and pretend it's not there, but look at ways of coming out the other end with a thriving business, even if it means diversifying.

Remembering back to the recession that started back in 1980 VHS porno copies were doing the rounds for ?20.00 and there was no shortage of punters and fortunes were made, the main difference between then and now was that fewer people had mortgages back then and much less debt and if you were unemployed your rent was paid by the social so a lot less people risked losing the roof over their heads, it is a different scenerio today and with so much free porn around i doubt if the industry will come out of it so well this time around, but i hope i am wrong !sad!

Switching to HD won't deter pirate downloads, but it will make it a bit more hassle for those on DSL, which is most of the UK. Trailers could be offered in SD, but full downloads offered only in 1080p. People who are prepared to pay a subscription will want 1080p as standard. Personally, I won't buy porn unless it is 1080p.

I agree with James Bond and Nineteen85 totally.

Quality is subjective to opinion but it just depends if youve got what the consumer wants.

My early material was so ripped off I would turn up to parties seeing it on peoples tvs and some other bloke laying claim to producing it (hence why I had to come up with a name to brand myself real fast) and that same stuff is still shifting today over 10 years on.

Not saying my stuff is quality but I believe in and stand by what i do and people who do not know me seem to like it hence my view and presence here still.

That and volume of it counts a lot too. Unless you've produced that particular brand of style or porn that would make many memberships on a handful of scenes, its the maintaining regular updates that will be in your favour in the long term.

That of course takes deep pockets and a level of commitment that is not easy to keep up in this current economic climate.

PS: Is that a spell check that has been incorporated into this forum??? Nice one mods

I thing that the D word(depression with massive deflationary pressures) is more appropriate. It is my fourth 'recession' and by far the worst I have seen,in terms of it's reach and extent. While getting good female models has become much more feasable, one still has to sell the product to those with some discretionary income!

Have to agree with that we all need food, drink, fags & sex, everything else might go to pot but if we are careful most producers will see it through fine. As the big companies fall plenty of smaller ones will fill the gap, the way you got to think of it is 1 million + out of work will be using computers more plus there will be a big rise in Adult stars looking to earn a quick buck so its not all doom & gloom.
