I totally agree with Daz a test-shoot is a perfectly reasonable practice still.

To be honest more now days than years ago before then internet started where models could only be booked via agency's or studios.

I have been in the industry over 23 years and to be honest the industry is getting worse there far to many wanni be models and timewasters out there.

If you look on any models site and there a lot now and some of the bigger ones have over 25,000 profiles for the uk alone its crazy and how many of them are real or professional models? 100s with snaps taken on there mobile phones and when they contact you they ask for crazy money.

I had so call models ask me for any think from ?50 - ?150 for topless and never been or worked with a photographer before and as for adult style then it gets even more crazy, you then try to tell them about the industry rates or test shoot or tfp then get crap back!

like Daz said if you take time to hire studio or location then i know some photographers also work so need time off then you get a nightmare of a new model or so called model.

Its a quick cash thing now days with lots of girls of all ages they think i can get my bits out and get paid good money then you never see them again.

If a new model comes to me i always do test shoot first unless she has proof of who or where she worked before and samples of the work.

Blimey Kim now your going back to when i first started late 70^s early 80^slong before the Internet and when there were only a handful of models and contacts were made word of mouth before you had seen any pics or videos.Quite often in my experience models would come for a test shoot in the hope that would lead to future work,which in most cases it did of course.I have many happy memories of Test video shoots with Teresa May,Charmaine Sinclair,Amanda Long to name just a few,and they were more than happy to come along.However as you rightly point out they WERE test shots and remained so,models are much different these days and would never expect models to do TEST shots now days.That is why,like you,I prefer to work with Amateur models and couples.

If you (with your experience) cannot promote yourself correctly then how can a brand new girl with no modeling, internet or forum experience be expected to.

I know it's picky but the point is that work doesn't just come to most models - they have to go looking for it and do every thing they can to make it easy for the 'toggers.

Of course you're right - a test-shoot is not to be applied to Gonzo style, it is simply a way of seeing what the girl looks like on camera. This is only ever going to be an issue for people who actually care what their models look like. Since I don't do HC then a girl's looks are very important to me.

Can I just say that it's becoming rather obvious who actually works with new models on a regular basis and who doesn't.
Sorry but if you're a 'togger looking for new girls on a daily business you have a choice - watch your business potentially float down the river or add some perfectly reasonable safeguards.

Nothing in my post was aimed at you & your practices, yes you'll get good togs but also lots of bad ones same as in any business, John as done some sites for girls over the last couple of months where they have had pics from their 'test shoots' & the trouble we had is that they were all small & covered in logo's which were no good for the models. Why do they do this when the girl ain't been paid? if model releases were signed then its every man for themselves surely, the models should have had the pics in full high res to use for themselves if i am right by what you are saying.
How many DVD's have been made up from test shoots by shady people who say to the models the clip can't be used?, in the video world this practise of test shoots is frowned upon but perhaps it different in the photography section otherwise i wouldn't have asked my questions.

As to your other question we pay a fee to the model & housewives & couples do their film etc, we don't use scripts as its just filming the people having sex. Some are better than others & some are very quite but they get paid the same as they have taken their clothes off & had sex to the best of their ability as they are only amateur after all.

As you well know the longer & more experienced the models are the more they can ask for so rates will vary from amateur to pro & from pro to pro.
If a Pro seasoned tog is offering to do a set of pics to help the model & themselves in the way of a 'test shoot' & model releases have to be signed then the model should have full res pics of the shoot to use for whatever purpose she needs, we seem to get loads of girls pics covered with logos that are no good to anyone & 9 times out of ten we have to reshoot them because of this.

If a well known tog / videographer offers to do a model some photos or a showreel then thats fine because some use comes out of it for both parties but its when they expect free sex with girls who will do anything to become famous it just cheapens the industry & puts girls off.

You have taken some of the thread out context to what i said but most will understand what & why it annoys me that some are taking the mick out of new models.
