I see you are using a camera mounted light in addition to main lights. How do you find it? Is it soft and floodable enough to not cause hotspots? And (I realise this is 3 questions!!!) what model light are you using?

In answer to your question; our stills are only a few taken to promote the scene, so we light for the scene with video lights and just use on camera flash to fill in. The main problem we have is that the video lights tend to make the stills picture look warmer than it should, but other than that it's OK. Dave Wells would be better placed to answer properly as he does all the stills for us. Ric

Would blueing up the lights for daylight sort your colour issues with the stills?

Yes I've always found the on camera Z1 light perfectly fine, although when using two cameras (as we do) the other camera often then sees another hotspot/shadow come into shot as the other camera with its light on roams in!

Rather than blue-filtering the video lights, putting a warm filter on the flash head of the stills camera and then correcting the whole picture's colour balance in Photoshop or similar is probably easier. Unless you're trying to balance the light with the outside of course, in which case you'd have to correct the video lights' colour instead.
