Respect is due to the dead, particularly those who were conscripted nd who didn't have an opportunity to exercise choice.

Personally i'm more offended by the plight of ex-service personnel who are cut adrift, not prepared for civilian life, and become statistics in terms of issues such as mental health & post traumatic shock, alcoholism, and offending behaviour. The fact that they're a depersonalized commodity and discharged as 'spent' (much like a cartridge) is much more abhorrent than this photoshoot, and it happens again and again. The notion of a 'land fit for heroes' occupies people's thoughts for a short time and as a promise I don't see that it's ever been delivered on !

How do you know he didn't intend it ? Being drunk is an obvious defence which you're buying into because it's consistent with end-of-term high-jinks, however you don't know that it wasn't intentional. It's been deemed by a court o be unintentional, but that doesn't make it so.
