Some tips...
Have you got cookies disabled ?
I don't think they want your full email, just your "Yahoo ID" which just maybe the first part of your email address, before the @ !
Have you typed your password correctly, remember it's case sensative ?

When you join egroups they send an e-mail to a second active e-mail address for you to return. If you don't return the message all you get when you try to enter is the message " the moderator has not yet approved your membership ". Hope this helps, bye.
