David, did you know that the BNP have a Jewish Councillor, in Epping in Essex, and also Griffin said last night that he doesn't mind what peole do in the privacy of their own homes (re: homosexuality) but he thinks it is wrong for pre-pubescent children to be forced to learn about gay sex. I don't believe he is anti-semetic or homophobic. The BNP wouldn't have a Jewish councillor if we was anti-semetic, and he seems to more or less accept people's right to be gay. I personally don't think young kids should be forced to learn about gay sex, just because a load of middle-class Guardian reading lefties think they should.

Each fans the flames of the other ,they are both as bad as each other.... Representing polar opposites, with everyone else (moderately) in the middle....and your absolutely right-everyone SHOULD be held accountable for their words, deeds and actions..But we now live in PC hell,so the haters+ones who shout the loudest get away with it..

Hi JR
Check out your history of late 20's early 30's Weimar Germany. Hitler was treated like a buffoon by all the other political parties, a bit like last night on Question Time. And the rest, as they say, is history!
Cheers

JR,
"Since when do I have to 'challenge the basic statements made by a number of people on this thread'? Unlike you David, I do not believe my opinions or thoughts are right and are the only rationale"

This part of the thread started with Sarah saying that Griffin was racist, homophobic and anti-semitic. You criticised her grammar and asked for proof to support those statements. I gave that proof. Not my own views but quotes from Nick Griffin which have been around for years, including his conviction for inciting race hatred and anti-semitism.

Because you were unable to prove otherwise you then went off at a sidetrack to quote Nick Griffin re. his modernisation of the party.

Thats it really. Not my thoughts, but an actual conviction!

Max - a short history of BNP targets

Max

Since you appear to be quite fond of Wilkipedia. Here's a quote at the end of this thread, from the summary on the BNP.

But first let me explain. Griffin has a conviction as a holocaust denier. If you look at the iplayer version of Question Time you will see Dimbleby presses him on this. First he says that the accusation is a lie. Then as I recall, as Dimbleby presses him further,Griffin starts waffling on about the EU law not allowing him to talk about the conviction. Then he says something like I dont know why I said the things that I did. Cue, rolling of eyes by panel and most of the audience falling about laughing.

So Griffin has an anti-semitic history. This is entirely without question.
However as the quote from Wilkipedia below shows, Griffin is smart enough to realise that the BNP won't get too much support simply by being anti-semitic. The BNP is all about demonising particular groups of people. The main focus of the Fascists has been in the past, black, West Indian immigrants and Jews. Now it is Muslims who are the invader. This is what the quote on Wilkipedia explains. There is much more chance of getting support if you demonise the Muslims.

Now do you understand why the ethnic groups in the firing line from the BNP vary over the years?

Finally, Griffin stated on Question Time that he found two same sex individuals kissing to be repugnant. He is also against civil partnerships. Here are some more quotes from one of your sources, Wilkipedia
Griffin wrote on the wedding of Elton John to his partner David Furnish that "not only would we not allow Elton John to marry his boyfriend but our proposals for a strengthened Clause 28 would prevent such a sick parody of real marriage being shown on TV in any case".[127] BNP spokesman Phil Edwards stated that homosexuality "is unnatural" and "does not lead to procreation but does lead to moral turpitude and disease".[126]

This strikes me as homophobic, doesnt it to you Max????

SOme of the following is taken from a Griffin Youtube performance and other sources which you can follow up from Wilkipedia:

"The party states that "The BNP has moved on in recent years, casting off the leg-irons of conspiracy theories and the thinly veiled anti-semitism which has held this party back for two decades. The real enemies of the British people are home grown Anglo-Saxon Celtic liberal-leftists ... and the Crescent Horde ? the endless wave of Islamics who are flocking to our shores to bring our island nations into the embrace of their barbaric desert religion".[42]

Consequently, the party has shifted allegiance in conflicts involving Israel. Its head of legal affairs, Lee Barnes, wrote on the party's website about the 2006 Lebanon War: "As a Nationalist I can say that I support Israel 100% in their dispute with Hezbollah. In fact, I hope they wipe Hezbollah off the Lebanese map and bomb them until they leave large greasy craters in the cities where their Islamic extremist cantons of terror once stood."[118]

Nick Griffin has made it clear that this shift in emphasis is designed to increase the party's appeal. On one occasion, he stated, "We should be positioning ourselves to take advantage for our own political ends of the growing wave of public hostility to Islam currently being whipped up by the mass media".[119] In a speech to local party activists in Burnley in March 2006, he said:

We bang on about Islam. Why? Because to the ordinary public out there it's the thing they can understand. It's the thing the newspaper editors sell newspapers with. If we were to attack some other ethnic group ? some people say we should attack the Jews ? But ? we've got to get to power. And if that was an issue we chose to bang on about when the press don't talk about it ? the public would just think we were barking mad. They'd just think oh, you're attacking Jews just because you want to attack Jews. You're attacking this group of powerful Zionists just because you want to take poor Manny Cohen the tailor and shove him in a gas chamber. That's what the public would think. It wouldn't get us anywhere other than stepping backwards. It would lock us in a little box; the public would think "extremist crank lunatics, nothing to do with me." And we wouldn't get power.[120]

I've heard there has been another 'accidental' leak of the BNP's membership list. This is the second time in a year and it is likely to decrease people's chances of joining as they can not do it in secret - they will be outed in these leaked lists every so often. It means if you are a solidier, Civil Servant, clergyman, Trade Union official, teacher, and various other things, you will be sacked - and everyone else will just have their reputations and lives ruined. I wonder what will be happening next: the changing of the membership rules, to allow non-whites, in order to try and ruin the BNP is being put in place right now, the 'accidental' leaking of the membership lists is another card they are playing, next it will probably be 'accidental' leaks of lists of people who have voted for them.
