I only just found out about it but if

www.aita.co.uk

is serious about representing your industry (I gather it's quite a recent development?) then steps should be taken to encourage the media to contact them first rather than approaching someone they know will be good for a soundbite.

What i read on their website seemed to cover a few of the points raised in this discussion particularly licensing, availability.

My comments weren't sour, they were realistic and if he thought that going on New 24 to talk about a subject matter I am interested in and then 'throws a few jokes in', I don't want this person to be talking on my behalf. As m100 said AITA is there.

Also, moosebumps, the first time I met him, I didn't get a hello. No I got I heard you've got a house in France, well I've got a villa in Spain and its got a swimming pool with loads of land and we're looking at buying another one and the walked off. AND NO he wasn't joking. What you don't understand is that material wealth is far important to some, than others and I thought that those people who were watching, who don't know him, would not know whether he was joking in the first place.

I would suggest that aita has a named 'contact' rather than just an address on it's website, adds some sort of press releases (i know this is stating the obvious but news editors don't necessarily look beyond what is staring them in the face and meets with or takes out the managing editors/producers of bbc and sky news in particular and itv (although the latter is far less likely to cover the adult industry). Otherwise they will always fall back on the readily accessible and easily quoteable just as they do for other stories eg there are 1001 publicists but their first port of call is Max Clifford.

"AITA are scum"....

I get the feeling whenever anyone tries to get something together in the way of an organisation or association that it is met with heavy criticism and derision but i wonder how many of its harshest critics here actually know how AITA work? Have you been to any of their meetings?

My only criticism of them was that I dont think they represent the interests of producers. If they did then they would campaign to stop the reselling and exchanges of dvd titles that are bought in at measly prices and doing the producers out of more money while trying to force the prices down per unit further. Is it any wonder why UK porn is where it is when it doesnt pay to invest heavily unless you have a strong distribution deal.

The real cartel is not AITA or any other association you know about but one or two of the porno illuminati trying to maintain the status quo. If you dont know who they are then its no point attacking associations like AITA. I'll give you a clue. Its not Ben Dover.

Im thinking of signing up with AITA because if Im going to criticise harshly I'd rather see and hear for myself what they are all about in person than from some posters here on the BGAFD who dont know anything but what they read from sources on the outside looking in.

They may not be perfect but hey...Who is?

AITA seemed to want to restrict R18 off pin protected sat -if I recall correctly

Good idea?

Ofcom will remain stubborn about the pin protection issue and to be honest I can see their point. The british have a very not in our back yard ever sensibility to their broadcasting and even if they did Id bet theyd raise the levy to broadcast it higher than anyone else.

TV is protected by those already in power whereas the internet is the wild west, unlawful and mostly ungoverned...Until now of course because new sheriffs are in town to clean up (the bbfc online, billing companies, china etc)

Its only because the powers that be never thought the internet would take off like it did that we have had such a free run until now.

Change is inevitable.

Id be surprised if we ever see hardcore on PIN protected tv. Legally that is.

How do you explain AITA not actually wanting it - R18 on tv that is?
