Both you and Buttsie are right, Lizard---it is a land issue. Every few years they call in Shimon Peres to try to broker peace, he does so, then the Israelis vote in some hardliner (Sharon, Netanyahu) who takes the "no surrender" stand to gain votes and ensure the orthodox groups keep them in power.

It's such a small country (in comparison) but has violence written into virtually every hilltop. The only place of almost comparable intolerance and distrust I can think of is Northern Ireland.

'the orthodox groups keep them in power.' aint that the truth, they can even do it from the states, no need to live there. You have to feel sorry for moderate Israelis who just want to live in peace.
It,s still a great country though.

Yes its a land issue

The Settlements especially....in the past they did come to an agreement to leave before they reached the final crux/stalemate

East Jerusalem being the Palestinian Capital
