One of the disadvantages of tertiary education.
Actually, I prefer fish........hows about Microstomatichthys bashforddeani? Pity the little fella's only three inches long (the fish, I mean.......).
A poor old ladybird got saddled with Subcoccinella vigintiquatuorpunctata (which even the entomologists abreviate to S. 24-punctata.....).
Don't get me started........

.....a rather quaint one is for the Pygmy Sperm Whale: Kogia breviceps, which is apparently a pun on 'codger'. Sweet........for a 20-foot marine mammal.
Pity the poor Jenny Wren, though, whose then-current name was changed by the taxonomic rules of priority back to Troglodytes: though I've certainly never heard of them living in caves..........
And another scientist used to make up generic names by anagrammatising his wife's name. Good job she wasn't called Zoe or Pat or May, I suppose........or Anastasia.

They are! About ten years ago I visited Nairobi National Park. There is a little zoo belonging to the park. In this zoo I met a water buffalo that loved to be caressed and patted.
Affection isn't the problem. The problems are size and hygienic habits.

I've finally bored you into submission, eh?
Would you like some little-known facts about very small rocks? They too are quite sensationally dull.........
