i disagreed with just about every opinion giles ever expressed but he was not a troll and as such was entitled to make his comments without being subjected to the sort of personal onslaught that you launched against him (and since when, nothing has been heard from him).

contrastingly, your own inebriated rant WAS pretty much indistinguishable from the actions of a troll. after all, that's what trolls do: instigate personal attacks against others with the aim of provoking an agressive response and fanning things into a flame war. if a similar tirade had been posted by someone new to the forum it would probably have resulted in their being barred.

the o/t forum is not a private members club and anyone who abides by the faq is entitled to have a voice here. you don't have to agree with what they say but you do have to respond to them within the parameters of the faq.

given that, NOBBY is as entitled to post on this forum as yourself, jj, lizard, ace, caractacus or any of the other regulars.

no need for the past tense - nobby remains as entitled to post here as you or anyone else.

The whole point of a forum is to allow a spectrum of opinion. I didn't agree with Nobby's interpretation of some posts, jusr as I have disagreed with posts by other people (and no doubt many have disagreed with the stuff I've said), but they do have the right to say it. There is a danger that argument can descend into bullying---but I don't believe any deliberate bullying is happening. I'm sorry if people have been deterred from posting due to fear of intimidation, but can only repeat that I'm not aware of any policy of intimidation by any regulars.

Apologies if I have been guilty of such behaviour. Thanks to the mods for their fairness in policing this fine facility.

Fair point WG, I wasn,t using the past tense, I meant he was on the road to nowhere in that particular thread, as were we all...............I have no issues with Giles whatsoever.
