The English Media is out of control but only because morons keep buying the papers when they mention anything about the English team or its players
With this in mind you can understand them asking the Portuguese Coach where England went wrong after the game and how they could improve.
Its really not reporting just having a story to run with and then trying to get a comment to hype it up
The rest of the media contingent were well pissed off with them
That question is one for Sven not the opposing manager to answer IMO

So, this Jim's a bit of a shirt-lifter, eh? Fair enough, takes all sorts.....
But who's this Jetson Blouson, though?

It's not just the newspapers. After the defeat to Portugal, Sue Barker and friends were ambushing various stars at Wimbledon asking them what they thought about England going out: McEnroe, Roddick, Serena Williams---as if they really gave a toss.

Its Manufactured pointless cheap reporting and is instant where as investigative journalism takes time and is costly
Makes you wonder if reporters are like salesman...get the right subject/name matter and earn a bonus
Would explain a lot of the bullshit that is made up and said to be from anonymous sources. We've seen the debacle in the states by several high flying journos exposed as frauds
Probably explains why I no longer read papers and barely peruse the Internet News

i'm currently reading a book that detected this trend in "Manufactured pointless cheap reporting" as you put it, in the early 60's:
The Image: A Guide to Pseudo-Events in America by Daniel Joseph Boorstin.
it reads like it was written yesterday - sadly.

...and of course, it's a stock-in-trade of Grisham-style fiction that the logical endpoint of this is that the media literally manufacture events.
