"Imagine someone you never met just walking up to you and literally blowing your brains out."
That'd spoil the weekend.

I'm totally gutted as well. Tried to get tickets for whenever Pantera and the only occasion that DAmage Plan played this side of the Atlantic but could never get them.
Looks like I'll have to stick with the cd's.
And I repeat what I said whe I found out about this
FUCK!.

Sad to hear such a thing like this could ever happen. Pantera were a deccent metal band. RIP Dimebag.
By the way Autumn. The first Metal band to top the US album chart on debut were Skid Row when they came straight in at No.1 with "Slave to the grind" album, Infact this was a first for any band let alone a metal band. Metallica, Van Halen, Pantera..etc..etc.. all followed thereafter with US no.1's on debut.
Indeed Pantera sold loads of albums all around the world.
A very sad ending.

The first accredited 'Metal' band to top the charts were the awful Quiet Riot in 1983

No band had actualy debuted at no.1 on first week of release (with an album) until 1991 on the oldest US chart- The Billboard's top 200. You might be right in saying Quiet Riot being the first metal band to top the chart. But they did not achive this on the opening week of its release. Skid Row became the first and opened the door for other bands to follow suite. I remember this very well when it happened. Only 3 or 4 solo artists had achieved this before them, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, & a couple of other solo artist had achieved this. It made headline news in the US on MTV & on the US show Americas Top ten.
If you don't beieve me try a google search for results.
Skid Row debuted first week at No.1 - It was a rare acievement which lasted 1 week, as they were toppled the week later by Metallica with the black album, yet a debut at no.1 on first week of release. It was all to do with the billboard magazine making a change in how they counted the album sales. Which resulted in Skid Row making a debut at No.1. Since then 100's of artists have debuted at no.1 on first week of release.

Apologies Hitman, I read it as first metal bamd to get to #1, didn't realsie it was first to go straight at the top........and Slave to the Grind was piss poor, like so many bands around at that time, especially Winger, although Cinderella were pretty bloody good

Nothing is funnier than how pious people get when someone half-famous dies. Hundreds of millions of people die every day, many of them do genuine good (nurses, carers, campaigners for justice). Where are *their* eulogies? One less 'celebrity' on the planet is a plus in my book, whoever they are.

What a name for a metal band-Cinderella
Almost as bad as twisted sister but then they looked the part
Maybe you should cast a vote to get them more recognition than 0 votes
cheers
