I never said they weren't influential,just not Heavy
I'm sure Number of the Beast would be the first heavy metal song that comes to many poeple minds if asked
Interestingly they were the first to actually start marketing themselves as being Heavy Metal.
I suppose its a good thing that Iron Maiden didn't try and sound like the bands before them otherwise they may have well been as bad as Saxon(denim & leather)...a truly awful REAL heavy metal IMHO
