Artwork Scotland on Sunday (10pm) is about Michael Powell. I'd recommend the Powell/Pressburger I Know Where I'm Going! as well.

It's A Wonderful Life has to be up there, but so too do Gregory's Girl and Local Hero---both leave me with a ridiculous grin on my face.

Hmmm.. great question....

Gotta be "A Wonderful Life"... call me girly, but I was 15/16 at the time and "Top Gun" has a sentimental place...

HOWEVER.. My fave film of all time - and afilm that depicts real life - good and bad - winners and losers - BOOGIE NIGHTS... obviosuy quite apt for this forum 'cos of subject matter... its a great film - you fewel for those that are trying to break out of the rut and make good and you feel for those that are on the downward spiral.... but above all you just LONG to be at those fucking parties!!!!!

indeed, i have the dvd and a most beautiful transfer it is, too. well worth the few pounds it costs for a copy.

Easy Riders good too...Man I love that psychedelic shit. It has a mood I like about it. Boogie Nights is also good for capturing that late 70's early 80's feel. You can feel the contrast between warmth and cold by the change in period and events....The 80's was getting cold...movies and musically. Probably all those synths that texturised a lot of soundtracks and popular culture back then
