Thanks Jacques,

I like discussion and debate, without people resorting to name calling & attacking one's personality.

As for Mr Blair being a 'Great Dictator'. Well you can call him a 'dictator' if you're referring to meanings '3.' and '4.' below, but not the rest.

dictator 1. a ruler with (often usurped) unrestricted authority. 2. a person with supreme authority in any sphere. 3. a domineering person. 4. a person who dictates for transcription. 5. Rom.Hist. a chief magistrate with absolute power, appointed in an emergency.

You can also compare him to Hitler, but thats like comparing Fred West to a tax dodger. They both lie, but the offences commited are on different levels altogether!

I think you already know what I'll say......but I can see the point you make and it's a persuasive one at that. But I want to clear this up, I am not suggesting that Blair is some great architect of another Holocaust but politically similar to Hitler at the time of the Enabling Act and certainly a domineering person. Perhaps this may be where the concensus is that I am wrong to liken Hitler to Blair? Perhaps I am the only one to see it? Any-hoo whilst we still have some freedom, you are free to decide for yourself.

And to pick on something else you said, people resort to name calling and attacking one's personality when they have ultimately lost the debate, it's easier for them to withdraw from the debate than admit they were wrong. Reasoned debate is good and there is nothing wrong with a little respect even if you disagree.

Right that's it - I'll say nowt more.

Sorry I've not been on for a few days.

My Mum had a fall. A few crack ribs, black eye, cuts and bruises so my priority has obviously been with her not coming on line / responding.

Jacques is correct about withdrawing from debates and I've always found people resorting to swearing often are doing so for the same reason.

I was going to write a long response the other day prior to my Mum's fall but Nick Griffin's name caught my eye before I read the full reply and the assumption that an individual like him would ever come to power in the UK for me made this entire debate redundant.

Your both correct about why I think the likening of Hitler to Blair is an insult although Jacques should remember Hitler's political views were known in Mein Kampf prior to his election and any enabling act.

Right that's it Iam with Jacques we will have to agree to disagee & I'll also say nowt more.

One last thing and totally changing the subject:

Jacques can you find a new alternative to channelchooser please it's gone down hill since sextv started advertising on it.

Ta

Well I hope your Mum is back on her feet soon.

And thanks for one of the better debates on the forum it made a rather pleasant change round here.

Alternative to ChannelChooser? Try

I think some is the same content though - not sure, but I did see Spice Extreme 1, 2 and 3 on there (and not the UK crap either).
