!shocked! Israel playing the 'anti-semitic' card. Do you mean in the same way some Muslims play the "it's because were Muslim' card? or is that to simplified? !shocked!

Israel is a country. Muslims are individual people.

There's always a good reason for a war. It's just sometimes hard to spot. You're right that this is in nobody's interest in the Middle East, but it's in somebody's interest or it wouldn't be happening.
There's no doubt that the US persuaded Israel to attack Lebanon. The US have clearly stated that they want to "re-shape" the Middle East, and if you know US history, you'll understand that "re-shape" and "destroy" mean roughly the same thing. Vietnam and Cambodia only recently emerged from their little "re-shaping" episode.

"Typical inaccurate bollocks from Muslim-hating Liddle."
Inaccurate? On the contrary, t'was only last evening that I tuned into Channel 4 News to hear one of the anchormen taking about "children that the Israelis have killed" instead of 'children that have been killed as a result of the conflict'.
As for Liddle being a Muslim hater. Well, I don't know him personally, but I doubt it. Rod obviously has his foibles, but from what I can garner from his scribblings ?Muslim hating? is far to strong a description. I?d say he hates Muslims just as much as I do - which I don?t. Shit, some of my best friends are Muslims. But that doesn't mean I will stand for any mediaeval Muslim nonsense (and neither do my Muslim friends). I?ll also speak out against such crap, whilst at the same time praising the positive aspects of Islamic culture ? the grub, the art, the medieval architecture, etc.
I enjoy Rod Liddle?s column. He has a keen eye for social observation, he?s witty, doesn?t shy away from controversy, says what he thinks, and on the whole talks real world common sense. It?s also interesting to note that at one time he was a raving leftist loon, a member of the Socialist Worker?s Party. He then worked for the Labour party and even had a column in the Guardian.

Liddle is a good writer. But he really has a bee in his bonnet about Islam. Not Extremist Islam, just Islam in general.
