Harold Acton, around 1910, wrote: "Absolute power corrupts absolutely";
Frank Herbert, around 1955, wrote: "Absolute power attracts the absolutely corruptible".
Now, a ?3 postal order for which one I'd go for.........

totally, O/T, but what about "Scott Tenorman must die!" jj? Surely the greatest episode ever..in my humble opinion at least.

Yep, agree with that. Still think it would be less harmful if it were more open but hopefully we're heading that way. Just ignore me if I pick up on ridiculously over-specific points - I study philosophy, it goes with the turf sometimes. And like Marcusallen has correctly observed, I am a berk. (Even if he is a drunk old fool).

The NAMBLA episode took some beating. And Garrison showing the kindergarten class how to put on a condom a week or two back was worse than anything Brass Eye could produce!

.....only the one thing I'd take issue with there, Sir.....most so-called "sex-related crime" here is much more about violence/power than sex, and gets us into those murky waters of why we all seem to want to beat the living crap out of each other at every available opportunity....nothing to do with sex being deemed unacceptable for 'family' viewing, and h/c violence being fine.....
Belabouring the obvious, perhaps: but why is it only obvious to people who watch porn? We seem, on the whole, to be a faitly peaceable bunch...........

The best ever, IMO, as you said........but I haven't got the foggiest who S. Tenorman is.......or am I missing yet another in-joke?
.....and I have yet to watch the movie (have it on tape, but tempus obstant, and all that........).

Don't worry Marcus. Recognised your point entirely, but I felt this sudden and uncontrollable urge to define what it is that I actually do

(Several pints b4 bedtime makes us do these things doesn't it)
BTW, who needs Question Time when the best debates occur here on this very forum!!!!

...and that alien thing, I was doing (bad) impersonations of that last week.........what was/were the planet/lingo/all the residents called?
Another unheeded expose of our parochialism.........
