I did watch it, and will say that West Ham wanted it more than Man Utd, and it showed.

i think the hug between Magnusson and Joorabchian at the end said it all! the League have been duped if they believe the third party agreement has been torn up as claimed.

I agree with that. It's understandable though as West Ham players had something to fight for. Man U players weren't gonna go diving into tackles at 90 miles an hour just before a cup final.
Still, Man U dominated, and it was only a defensive mistake, along with a lucky ricochet, that gifted West Ham a goal. It was just one of those games. West Ham have had a lot of luck lately. I wonder if they should have a go on the lottery this weekend as well? !laugh!

All fair comment.
Alarm bells did ring when WH signed those two......little did we know of the significance.
I agree, every teami n in the Premiership is there on merit. But SU should have brought more to the table in order to stay there.
I am an 'onarary 'ammer........ but they might yet get away with footballing murder.

I know what you're saying...... Sheff Utd could have accumulated more points if they'd spent a bit more.............maybe; but it's not about Sheff Utd as if they had got 45 points this season then Wigan would have been relegated, and if Wigan had got 45 points then it would have been Fulham. West Ham wouldn't have accumulated 41 points this season without Tevez, pure & simple. Your defending at times was awful, with your goal difference the worst in the Premiership until Tevez started banging em in at the other end. It's still the 3rd worst even after winning 7 out of the last 10.
Staying in the Premiership this season was worth -a reportedly- ?50 million. Because of West Ham's fine, they get ?45 million............for cheating.
For honesty the relegated teams get zilch.
West Ham was one of those teams the neutrals liked to cheer on against the big boys, and I did last season. This season I -as did loads of others I spoke to- wanted West Ham down this year. I think most people realise that cheating & lying is wrong, and they feel West Ham have gotten away with it.
Not the players fault, nor you fans, or new owners, but another team has just lost ?50 million pounds, due to another club having an advantage through cheating & lying. Not for 1 game, but for 8 months-worth of games.
Cleaners, security, tea ladies, youth team developers all lose their jobs because of relegation. It doesn't just affect the players and managers wages.
It just sends the message that cheating is worth the effort, and sends the Premier League down the same road as Italy, when they could have set an example to the world that clubs that cheat will be punished hard.
Still, it's a guaranteed 6 points for the Owls next season, now the pigs are back down! !footie! <---- must have blue & white alternative flag admin!
We should also all realise that the fine they got hit with is now, legally, the end of it. [That's part of being in the Premiership - you agree to their fines, etc. So you cannot sue them if you disagree later on.]
Hey, West Ham also signed up to certain rules when they got promoted. If the contractual clauses go against the law of the land, then maybe there's a case. Contracts are only legally binding if they're.........erm, 'legal'.
If a team can prove sufficiently that they've lost ?50 million due to incompetent decisions, then maybe there's a case, I dunno. A court looking back at previous punishments will see that Middlesbrough got docked 3 points just because their squad was sick/injured and they didn't have a sufficient number of players to play an organised game. This was something out of their control, but they still got punished.
The current calamity was no freak accident, with West Ham purposely lying to the Premier League, and admitting so. How serious can you get?
I guess the FA could over-rule the EPL, but old West Ham boy Trevor Brooking is Director of Football Management..........oh dear.
Only if he was a goalie (or Diego God) would Tevez have single-handedly kept West Ham in the league.
Exaggeration !happy! Ok, he 'made the difference' since he's definitely helped get them more than 3 points this season.
Sheffield United have stated that no-one is going to be made redundant after relegation.
That's good news, I didn't know. Still, the EPL didn't take such things into consideration when they were making important decisions.

I stated in a previous post that the EPL were threatened -allegedly- that any point docking would be appealed in court. The EPL wasn't worried about losing, but was worried that a court battle may disruption the start of a new season in August, as the relegation battle wouldn't actually be fully sorted. Apparently, the season may have been delayed.
If this is a scenario West Ham could have achieved -win or lose- then I cannot see why Sheff Utd, Charlton, Wigan etc couldn't threaten as well, as a protest.
I guess the EPL have contractual agreements with TV, and advertising whereby such a delay may cause them losses. Who knows?
Goes towards a 'why' as well.
