No Thierry Henry Threads?
Re: No Thierry Henry Threads?
You know that I never thought there would come the day that I agreed with Warren (help me). But Viera was a bigger loss than Henry will be, after Paddy left we looked lost in midfield as Astrid took a year to settle in playing in the role. I think now that him and Cesc will be the major midfield partnership in the Premiership..
Back to Le Sulk, yes he had good games for us, but I have seen him miss hatful of chances(ie Champions League final) as we try and walk it into the goal. This is the year the RVP and Walcott will shine in games at Ashburton Grove.
The Arsenal Player of the year will be announced tomorrow, so far
4th Gael Clichy (Cashley who???)
3rd Kolo Toure
2nd Gilberto ( Astrid my choice for captain)
1st???? Will it be Henry or as I suspect Cesc. (Player has over 60% of the vote)
If Henry is not in the top 4 Arsenal players have the fans finally realised.
I love my club with a passion since going to Highbury in 1971, my only gripe is that we do not have an English backbone with only 2 Englishmen Hoyte and Walcott. I only hope Wenger spends the money creating that backbone.

Ok I will post one more time but as I said it is like trying to win an argument with a woman with you.
In the last couple of years Viera, Dennis Berkamp, Robert Pires, Sol Campbell and Ashley Cole have all left Arsenal and they were all top players. That's nearly half a side of top players not just one player.
How many of those players have been replaced by players of the same quality? Viera maybe? The others not a chance.
Why weren't those players replaced by the same quality? Because Arsenal couldn't afford to (because of the financing of the new stadium) and had to go with younger cheaper players.
Why did the others leave in the first place? Well with exception of Bergkamp who retired Arsenal couldn't and wouldn't pay them. Why couldn't they? Because of the financing of the new stadium.
Why did they go with younger players? Because they cost less in salaries i.e. they are cheaper.
Arsenal's demise is down to a forced tigthening of the purse strings and 5 players leaving because of that and not just one player.
Do I need to spell it out for you any more or is that enough for you now?
No doubt it isn't as you will always and I mean always have to have the last fucking say on every topic don't you.
Lastly Warren. Are you on a mission to reply to every fucking topic, thread and post on this forum?
Can you at least have one day off and spare the others from your incessant ramblings.
Time for a break from these Forums I think although I really need a break from you Warren.

Re: No Thierry Henry Threads?
Come on Wazza, Henry is magnifique!
I'd say when Arsenal had Viera they also had a younger & faster Llundberg, an in form Sol Cambell, and a certain Robert Pires!
I really think they miss Pires's pace in attack. When Arsenal were winning trophies they were turning defence into attacking the opponents goal within seconds - a bit like Man Utd on occasion last season with Ronaldo & Saha.
On another note, I don't think Fabregas is all that. He's no pace, he can't tackle, and his passing -while exceptional over 10 yards- is nothing to brag about really. I like him, and think he'll be a great one day. Similar to Paul Scholes, but Scholesey scores more.
If Van Persie stays fit and gets in good form, I think you'll be ok for a Champions League place again. If not then I can see Tottenham nicking it off you!

Re: No Thierry Henry Threads?
The players you have mentioned were nearly all either past their best or aged. Pires was in and out of the side in his last season and their contract offer to him was not peanuts, but he was only offered one year, as is club policy. Sol Campbell shot himself in the bollocks by walking out of the door at half time against West Ham and he was on over ?100k a week. Thierry Henry is on roughly ?120k a week, Freddie Ljungberg is on 70 grand and William Gallas is on 80k a week. Hardly the wage level of a club in the shit financially.
The club have also spent (approx figures) ?8m on Hleb (what a waste of cash that is!) ?6m on Rosicky, between ?5m and ?12m on Walcott, ?3m on Diaby, ?8m on Adebayor and had agreed a fee of approx ?16m for Baptista (who would have signed if he hadn't been shit). So they are not exactly skint but all their spending is properly managed, unlike Man Unied (ticket prices up massively this year) Chelsea or Liverpool.
What they have is a managed debt of ?260m to pay for the stadium, financed over 25 years. The gate receipts pay for that, leaving their tv money and merchandise to fund further transfers and wages. Believe it or not, Arsenal earned more from tv than any other club for two years running. Next summer the Highbury Square development is completed and will show an expected profit of some ?100m, ?50m of which has been earmarked to repay a loan, leaving approx ?50m to add to any generated revenues from tv deals and merchandise for transfers.
The club is responsibly financed. They are not skint but they don't go mad and they have the perfect manager for the job. He buys gems cheap and gets the best out of them before selling them on. I don't like that really, as I'd like to see us compete for the top players, but it's the way Arsenal has always been run.
You mentioned Ashley Cole in your post. He only left the club because David Dein tried to play the hard man and insisted on dragging Chelsea to the FA, who then decided to charge the player as well. If Dein hadn't done that (remember he was all over the papers bigging himself up as an honest transfer dealer at a time when agents were being castigated in the press? "I make them swear on the Bible") then Cole would most probably have been persuaded to stay.
Sorry if that post comes across as argumentative. It's not meant to be, but I get a bit pissed off when Arsenal are called a skint club. They are far from it, they just need to prove it. Which is perhaps why Henry left in the first place....

Re: No Thierry Henry Threads?
Yawn yawn yawn. More shite from Wanker Zevon RIP.
You know I'm right Warren because well...................you know you're always wrong. As I said in a previous thread you just go looking for an argument because lets face it you're a sad twat with no life outside of this Forum.
Also best not to tell people to waste space on this Forum. It's more than a bit hypocritical as that's all your posts ever seem to do.
Oh and Warren. I'm not picking on you because I'm looking for support. I'm picking on you because I don't like you and you're an annoying git.
Lastly and this really is lastly from me for a while, I shall have a look in here in a couple of days to see if it takes you more than 2 minutes to reply because let's face it you have nothing else to do in your life.
Go on Warren resist it and reply tomorrow to just to prove you do have a life. Why not reply at all just to prove you don't have to have the last say.
Nah didn't think so.
Hasta la vista loser.

It was worse for me when Liam Brady left. And I cried when Charlie George went.
