OK, I did that - but still no luck, the trial version won't uninstall. I keep getting the same error message as I did before!
I noticed in Windows Task Manager two files named avp.exe, are they anything to do with it?

Yes they are, click on it, then right click, that will show a small Options Menu, choose End Process Tree. Do the same for all the avp files showing in Task Manager.
I use AVG from I have the free version, which gives me Definition DataBase Updates almost daily, as well as Core Program Updates, usually a few times a month, again for free. I haven't had an Infection on this computer for almost 8 months, the last time was when I downloaded a program, which had a hidden trojan inside.

OK, I'll do that. Do I need to close down everything and log off?

Not quite, save anything your working on, close them down, close off the AVP files we discussed, in the Task Manager, then that should allow you to uninstall it. No, logging off will prevent access to them.

I tried all that but received an 'access denied' message! I've installed AVG for free! I've paid twenty quid for Stenagos and the problems are still happening. I've emailed them for advice, but no response from them yet!!

I'd just like to say a thank you to all those who helped me with this problem! Although it's not completely sorted out yet - that's now down to the people at Steganos.
