I did think about it like you----wondered what the hype was all about. But I read the books and enjoyed them. If that's a crime, fine, then I'm guilty.

I've read Austen (you have to be in the mood, and make allowances for the fact that they are all toffs, but her stuff is witty and insightful).

And I've read Wodehouse. Yes, he was a Nazi, but he created his own mad little world of upper class twits, fiercesome aunties, empty-headed fiances and clever butlers. I can read a Jeeves book, and one of Chandler's Marlowe books and derive just as much pleasure.

Liking different things isn't wrong, Keith. And having an opinion on something doesn't make it right.

I wouldn't worry about any criticisms from anyone on the internet

Even the so called EXPERT REVIEWERS/CRITICS very rarely come close to agreeing

Alas we all see things how we want to see them

I remember when I was a teenager, after some of my friends finished of the bottle of pop we had taken with us, my mates took a piss into the pop bottle, then when the "foreign kid" joined the group again, after wandering off for the loo, he asked for some of the pop that was left.

He demolished all the piss-pop, bout an hour or so later, he kept asking: "Why did the pop have a funny taste?"

I couldn't answer, just kept laughing under my breath, lol.

Yeah, I heard there's a worrying situation there water-wise.

Only a few months ago a relative was telling me about the snowfall they had---admittedly they are up by the mountains.

I hope the situation gets better before summer comes along, Buttsie.

You could use the same argument for the Duke of Windsor then. The fact remains, the Nazis used them for propaganda purposes.

As a writer, though, how could anyone dislike someone who came up with:

"She looked as if she had been poured into her clothes and had forgotten to say 'When.' "

And "I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled."

Genius.
