I did think about it like you----wondered what the hype was all about. But I read the books and enjoyed them. If that's a crime, fine, then I'm guilty.
I've read Austen (you have to be in the mood, and make allowances for the fact that they are all toffs, but her stuff is witty and insightful).
And I've read Wodehouse. Yes, he was a Nazi, but he created his own mad little world of upper class twits, fiercesome aunties, empty-headed fiances and clever butlers. I can read a Jeeves book, and one of Chandler's Marlowe books and derive just as much pleasure.
Liking different things isn't wrong, Keith. And having an opinion on something doesn't make it right.
