D'you mind?
Newts are wonderful creatures, like little aquatic lizards [although our own
titular hero seems to prefer to swim in beer]. I like the little fuckas.
And I'm not in the least gay [at least, that's the line I'd take in a court of
law...].

Leave it up to the Mods to decide where/when a given thread crosses
the line from harmless idiocy into real abuse.

Oh....God, here we go again... did we not just have this in the 'Self-
appointed moral guardians' thread?
Where are these instances of 'abuse'?
This is an offshoot of a forum about British GIRLS. How many gays do you
think there ARE out there, being 'offended'? True, there may be some
lesbians who pop in here by mistake but in my experience they tend to
have better things to do. And why don't you respect these alleged 'gay
forumites' enough to let them speak out for themselves if they feel
they're being abused?
To a large extent the forum is self-censoring, e.g. in the case of the girls
who post here [see the heavenlybangbabes one above]- because it's
known that any derogatory comments might be read by the girl in question
the idiots who would otherwise post them generally keep their nasty little
thoughts to themselves. The threat of Moderatorly censorship is ever-
present but usually otiose given that, as I said above, the majority will
usually rapidly round on such abuse if it goes too far.... and that is the
point in the end- your threshhold may welll differ from the Mods' and that
of other posters. I have known it for a thread to emerge which has then
immediately ceased upon the posting of a comment from someone who
has taken offence at its drift. The Mods' take as I understand it is that
freedom of speech., however idiotic, should trump censorship except in
extreme cases- an approach I find occasionally annoying but on the whole
reasonable.
I'm always wary of those who take it upon themselves to take righteous
offence on others' behalves- it smacks a little of power-tripping and
condescension.
