Trumpy when you go in tomorrow go to start menu, control panel, user accounts,then, turn user account control on or off, obviously that will be a big fat OFF, then insert the disk and let it self load if possible, if it picks up the installer just run with it, if not go to my computer and right click on the cd drive then explore, look for the setup programme or installer, this will hopefully work fine, let me know if you have problems. seriously there is NO reason at all for office 2000 or 03 not to run ok.

OK Liz I'll try that. Remember that I'm trying to install a COPY of MS Office 2000 and not an original one.

Liz, followed your instructions, but it didn't work! A message appeared saying: "Vista cannot read invalid file format. Check you are using licenced MS software applications".

Trumpton you may be trying to install a duff copy, it isn,t about the key, people think windows software has an embeded key that must match. When installing xp- there is no key on the cd, they are just mass produced, the key for xp is always on the machine so when you come to validate it microsoft know it has already been done, usually they will allow 'cough' three installs this means ringing them and asking pretty please etc as long as it's your own 'cough' computer. There must be something wrong with the copy, sorry mate.
The only other thing I can think of it to load the CD but dont let it self install wait for it to stop then go to start- my computer-then right click on the cd image then properties, then select compatability set it for windows 2000, or even 98, or NT see if it will load again.

Hmmm, don't think so. It worked fine on my comp - but I don't have Vista on mine just XP.

The copy has worked elsewhere (see above).

OK, I'll give that a go.

Outlook 2000 has issues because of missing components that were shared with Outlook Express in earlier versions of Windows that aren't in Vista.

You can work round it but I found that contacts didn't work properly.

Other than that 2000 worked fine for me.
