Bit of a sore point that, Steve. Melanie claimed she'd written it, and the Stones had ripped her off. Hence her other single, Look What Thay've Done To My Song, Mom.

I prefer the Stones' version myself. I was under the impression Ms Safka claimed she wrote the song, but I can't seem to find any online reference to it.

Maybe I dreamt it !confused!

Everything she does, Written by Lennon and McCartney performed by the Beatles and covered by Yes.
Higher Ground by Stevie Wonder , an awsome cover by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Blinded by the Light and Davy's on the Road originally by Bruce Springsteen , but very good covers by Manfred Mann's Earth Band.

MacArthur Park originally done by the late great actor Richard Harris , then coverd by disco diva Donna Summer.

Nellie the Elephant by Mandy Miller , and Wonderfully covered by The Toy Dolls.

Alfie..I believe most people think it was Cilla Black who sang the theme tune to the film, when in fact it was Cher.
Cilla recorded her own version afterwards.
