Between 1979 and 1993 there were 109 episodes of Minder - including a feature film, 'Minder On The Orient Express' (cinematic release in Australia & NZ, broadcast in the UK on Christmas day 1985).

All these episodes are available to buy, uncut, from places such as HMV and Borders. I, like Flat Eric, have them all. Also, you can order them direct from Fremantle Media (the distributors). Sorry I can't find a link. Suggest google Fremantle Media.

Minder is a brilliant series - probably the best series ITV ever produced. It was a brilliant cast, brilliantly written, brilliantly acted and all the senarios were totally believeable.

When Waterman left I thought that Garry Webster gave a very good performance as Arthur's nephew. Those later episodes were just as good as the earlier ones.

There was a fair bit of violence and a bit of female nudity in those earlier episodes, which the producers tonned down after Waterman left.

Me too. Although the final series wasn't so good and had more than its share of weak episodes (budget cuts, apparently).

The Webster episodes had a different "look" about them as well, with a different filming style (which any tecchies might like to explain, as I'd be interested to know the reaon for that), the use of incidental music (not used in the Waterman era) and a completely new set for the Winchester Club.

They did, but Ray (Webster) still managed to get into a few good scraps occasionally, and in a couple of episodes was himself on the receiving end of particularly violent kickings. The one where he was at a trade fair with Arfur trying to defend the honour of some posh bird (who turned out to be a right bitch in the end) springs particularly to mind.

The reason why MInder finished in 1993 was that because the ITV franchises were being sold off to the highest bidder. Thames TV who carried the show were out bid by the new Carlton TV.

I did hear a rumour that a new series of Minder is being produced with Bradley Walsh playing the a Arthur Daley type character.

I saw Garry Webster in a episode of Casualty the other year - apart from that I can't recall seeing him in anything else since Minder ended.

ERIC REPLIES: I read that somewhere as well. I don't know if the project has actually got off the ground though, or whether it was just an urban myth.

ERIC REPLIES: He was recently (i.e. earlier this year) in "The Bill" for a while. He had a recurring role as a drug dealer in a number of episodes extending over a few weeks (his character was eventually gunned down by armed rozzers).

He had a different recurring role also in "The Bill" a few years ago, that time playing the step-father of a kid who made false abuse accusations against one of the Sun Hill officers.

But apart from that, I haven't seen him in anything else either (I didn't see his "Casualty" appearance).
