The presence of David Beckham and (even more so) Dame Edna made us NOT tune in.

Judging by the recycling of the same people he's had on for the last X years, does anyone really need to take his place?

clearly someone's going to have to give an opinion so let that be me. utter dog wank. you're welcome.

some of the briefest, most pointless interviews i've ever fell asleep watching in my life. a seemingly endless trawl of shite we've all heard before with parkys extraordinary talent for butting in before the punchline and storming off on a tangent.

frankly its about time this wrinkled old bastard was laid to rest once and for all

good luck in the future though...

Another problem is that all the guests only appear on his show
to plug their latest film, tv show, record, book etc with nothing
really interesting to say

Also most of them turn up on gmtv/sky etc doing the same promo anyway

I think the whole genre of talkshows has been on the slide
for the past few decades

Parkinson like so many other TV shows was best pre-internet
pre youtube

Watch any American talkshow thesedays is like watching paint dry because all the celebs are scared of ending up on youtube so you end up with this polite little conversation about nothing followed by a 10/20second clip of film being pushed

Little wonder he's retiring
