some of the briefest, most pointless interviews i've ever fell asleep watching in my life. a seemingly endless trawl of shite we've all heard before with parkys extraordinary talent for butting in before the punchline and storming off on a tangent.
frankly its about time this wrinkled old bastard was laid to rest once and for all

Another problem is that all the guests only appear on his show
to plug their latest film, tv show, record, book etc with nothing
really interesting to say
Also most of them turn up on gmtv/sky etc doing the same promo anyway

I think the whole genre of talkshows has been on the slide
for the past few decades
Parkinson like so many other TV shows was best pre-internet
pre youtube
Watch any American talkshow thesedays is like watching paint dry because all the celebs are scared of ending up on youtube so you end up with this polite little conversation about nothing followed by a 10/20second clip of film being pushed
Little wonder he's retiring
