Tobacco advertising is banned, why is there no ban on alcohol advertising?

Alcohol is relatively inexpensive to purchase and it's easily available especially to under-age consumers.

Sooner or later, the authorities will turn their attention on alcohol. The deaths on the roads; the violence within towns and cities, and in the home; the families that suffer as a result; the pressures on hospitals, and the threats and assaults emergency service workers have to face. All these factors, and many others, will create an atmosphere to curb binge drinking, and perhaps more.

Like most things in life, if done in moderation and with a degree of common sense, no problem. Alcoholism, like drug addiction, is a disease and little can be done about it. But the general public view of drink as being socially acceptable, and non-drinkers being slightly odd, will change.

I'm not teetotal, but I can see the harm drinking causes.

The word "facetious" comes from the Latin facetia, which means "joke".

Mrs Castle sought something to blame in order to try to make some sense of her husband's early death, as is only natural. Doubtless, he was similarly inclined himself. However, very often, such illnesses simply "just happen" and nobody or nothing is to blame.
