No but it was said that his manic depression was caused by his WW2 experiences which seems slightly odd as he must have had a disposition towards manic depression before WW2. More typically war causes PTSD.

I hope Prince Charles puts the spoke into this one. He was a great friend of Spikes.
Barrymore, please fuck off to obscurity where you belong.

Definitely a worthy read TLW, and I don't mind admiting that the reading of the events during and immediately after the Italian campaign brought a tear to my eye.
Perhaps Barrymore could attempt to try and get into character by first taking a few friends into the desert and have WW11 re-enactors constantly, for a period months, use artillery, tanks and planes to injure and kill one or two of his friends around him helping to push him towards the edge. He can then go into the mountains in southern Italy where those WW11 re-enactors can then land some mortar shells on top of him. Barrymore can then spend the time in hospital trying to find out who he is once more before attempting to immitate a true comedy genius.

I was reading about a year ago, that many societies/cultures did not believe in the sanctity of psychology or psychiatry as their only aim was to violate the sanctity of the inner uniqueness of the human being. That's just food for thought.

It's deliberately offensive. Oddly enough, it also starred Eric Sykes, who had a contractual clause that no swearing would appear in any scenes he was in.
But Sykes and Speight were old friends- with Galton, Simpson, Milligan, Secombe and Sellers, they owned a company called Associated London Scripts as early as the 1960s.

I just think it was a sign of his genius humour going off key.

Yup, that's what I've been on about.
