I understand perfectly about statistics and probability. I don't dispute the unlikelihood of particularly horrible crimes being perpetrated against the individual, even in today's society. But of course you know this.

What I am worried about, and what I am highlighting, is the INCREASING POSSIBILITY of such things happening, and I'm suggesting that other folks should be worried to - since it will be of little consolation if your wife, girlfriend, grandfather, etc, etc, has been done to death on the increasingly mean streets of Great Britain to say ?Hey-ho. Never mind. Warren Zevon and his pal says that statistically speaking this is unlikely to happen to anyone else on your street."

What a terrible red-top scaremongering programme this has become. It's now a combination of sexually provocative females flaunting their assets and a litany of lurid tabloid style tales of crime.

Do we pay our licence fee for this? It is the job of the Police and Law Enforcement to detect and prevent crimes - not the BBC!

"Surely you could have mentioned this opinion in uyour original post - or are you just "doing a Crimewatch" and stirring up a bit of angst amongst the lesser intellects that you reckon populate this forum."

My dear Sir, are you suggesting that I'm an agitator, or maybe indeed a 'rabble rouser'?

"Did you not do maths at school?"

Indeed I did, Sir. And I learned a simple principle that has stood me in good stead all these years - Buy something for a quid + sell it for a tenner = freedom, power, security and contentment.

I trust you are imbuing your pupils with similar wisdom?

No matter how small the chance of this happening to me: when I read a report like this, I am inclined to think shariah is not a bad thing after all and these boys should be stoned in public.

Sounds about right, Dutchman. Anyhow, where have you been? We've not seen you about lately.

I am in the process of moving house. So I have not been a frequent visitor during the last weeks.

Crimewatch has always been scaremongering.

Nick Ross's fault for saying don't have nightmares at the end of the broadcast.

Easy for him to say that as he does'nt live in a crime infested area.

KirstY Young is a sort, even though she's a sweaty !wink!
