We've got three Tesco's,a massive one,a big one and a little one.An Asda, Morrisons,Sainsburys,Somerfields,2 Netto's,2 Lidl's,Aldi's,various Spa's,Tateshoppers and a few independant food stores. No wonder they call ours Europes Food Town!

Yep I agree with Bob Singleton.
Our freezer draw is continually empty. When you can create Potato Dauphinoise with some potatoes, garlic and cream for less than the ?2.99 they charge in the supermarket. Everything can be created for less. I also prefer fresh, jims an excellent cook and as he's Italian, can rustle up a gourmet feast in a blink of an eye.
Fresh is best. Especially as its cheaper from a market and NOT one of the supermarkets. But I suppose not everyones got the time like us.

Freezers are for three things only... a bottle of Nemiroff Black Label vodka, Green & Blacks chocolate ice cream and home-picked vegetables blanched and frozen for future use (to which add bought frozen peas as they are fresher than "fresh" peas)
Yes Gratin Dauphinois (to give it its correct name) is so simple to make (aren't all "peasant" dishes?) that I can't understand why people buy it ready made.
