Why do you confuse explanation with excuse?

McCain will likely win comfortably.
He's a war hero, apparently.
Those who cannot abide the thought of a negro as President will likely vote for him, regardless of their customary party allegiance.
Those who cannot abide the thought of a woman as President will likely vote for him, regardless of their customary party allegiance.
Republicans will vote for him.
Bush-haters would, at least, be getting somebody other than Bush.
It's hard to see how he can lose.

McCain is a war hero, but so was Kerry.
Kerry lost the election, however. Beaten by Bush, who dodged Vietnam.

Count me in to that group. [Wouldn't have used the adverb "sorely" though.]

Affirmative action is something I am not at all fond of. Handing out grants to students of underrepresented ethnic minorities is ok with me, but fiddling with the academic admission criteria has me up in arms.
Whether we would have to speak out against Obama would depend on his policies. Would he adopt policies like the present imbecile in office I would feel no discomfort whatsoever speaking out against him. Wouldn't need us though - I recall, towards the beginning of the Iraq war, a German politician denouncing Bush as a right-wing war-monger, and that German politician was - wait for it - the head of the German neo-fascists.

I suggest you read what you put.
This thread is now closed (as far as I am concerned).
