Swings & roundabouts.
Europe is more 'backward' when it comes to racial equality, corruption and policing.
From my point of view anyway.
Can you quote any accounts on the subjects of racial equality, corruption and policing that put the UK above most of the rest of Europe?
Can these Europeans that deride the UK of backwardness?
To answer you question though (as I never duck any as much as possible, unlike some), if you look back to a similar discussion I had with Mr Mike Freeman and Mr Rasputin (I think), I produced a EU survey on corruption within the EU, with the UK having the 4th lowest (from memory Sweden, Norway & Denmark were the only ones above us).
I have nothing of the sort concerning racial equality but just looking at sports events across Europe, monkey chanting is common across most of eastern Europe, Italy, & Spain (usually a good indicator of working class beliefs).
And when was the last time an arrested EU citizen battered by police, or complained of any brutality in the UK? A common occurrence in some EU countries.
Please search for that survey....it'll be in the archives somewhere.

Re: Broon?s Britain - More Callous Killers
You rubbish an official survey, yet take the absolute word of a sole motorist that happened to be pulled over for being over the limit; you dismiss this survey and rebut it with your own personal experiences.
If you dismiss this 'survey' (which wasn't a UK based survey btw) then why would you take the words of Europeans, who think the UK 'backward' as gospel? Why, even, ask me for any proof that back up my statement and then dismiss that proof?
And as for basing working class opinions on sporting events: How else is it easy to get an idea of the behaviour and views of lots of people? I mean, we can all say something on an official form and then our action be contradictory. For instance, I'd guess that because of the society we live in today, most racists would deny their racism on an official paper. And yet, with like-minded friends/family at a public event, their suppressed personality comes to the fore.
Basically, you cannot accept anything that puts the UK ahead in anything? I mean, you could produce an official paper claiming the Danish health services are much more efficient than UK health services, by an independent party, then I'd accept you may actually have a point..........maybe it's just me?
Why should I dismiss the views of other people? It's got nothing to do with the survey.
Eh? Isn't any survey based on people opinions anyway? You DO see the contradiction in just that one statement? - In other words, you believe what you want to believe?
You can't generalise about a whole society based on the behaviour of its football fans
But these 'Europeans' are free to generalise about UK backwardness? Again, contradictory.
I don't really see the point in compiling a league table which makes grand comparisons between nations which results in being able to say that we or they are better than others, it's a flawed statistical effort and nothing more.
Then your original statements about Uk backwardness, and how great/better/more advanced certain European nations are, are also flawed because any league table they come up with to backup their claims must also be judged in the same way the survey I produced was.
You made bold statements about the infrastructure and quality of life in Europe. I actually didn't criticise your views but merely tried to point out that two could play that game. Again: 'Swings and roundabouts'. It seems you have a preconception of 'the way things are', only taking into account things that backup that preconception (EU infrastructure/quality of life) and find it hard to believe anything contradictory of that preconception (racism/corruption).
I backup my statements with official surveys, you backup your statements with drunk motorists. Enough said really....
